Furniture, Lighting, Architectural Accents, Art and Sculpture

Together with our collaborators, Strands of History has a portfolio of original designs for limited edition functional art such as tables and lighting.  With these luxury pieces, you are not just acquiring a piece of Bay Area history, you’re investing in an asset that will be passed from generation to generation.  Hand-crafted, custom built coffee tables, side tables, accent tables or outdoor tables with legs fashioned from the original suspender ropes are the rare furniture pieces you’ve dreamed about.  You can order a piece using our original designs, or create your own fully customized designs with our team.

The coffee table shown on the site is approximately 4′ x 2′ x 19″.  The wooden top is made from Claro walnut harvested from 80+ year old trees, past their commercially productive age, from a grove near Chico, CA.  We have only five more tables tops made with this wood available.  Eighty-plus year old suspender ropes paired with 80+ year old walnut.  To design your custom table with one of these limited edition wooden tops, please use our contact page.  The pictured, original design, coffee table is offered at $18,500, plus tax.  Shipping is included within California and within 500 miles of Lake Tahoe.  Please use our contact page to inquire about acquiring this truly unique piece.

We are proud to partner with two outstanding groups of craftsmen on these pieces; Aaron and Jesse Bushey of Bushey Ironworks, and Andy Cline (known by all as “Cline”) and his team at Roundwood Furniture.  These two groups have created inspired functional art for decades.  We feel privileged to be able to contribute to their work and to help incorporate these historical ropes into completely unique pieces for your home or business.

These authentic historical suspender ropes from one of the world’s most famous bridges are a unique medium to create artwork for public spaces, building plazas, entrance ways and lobbies. Strands of History is proud to collaborate with metal artist and sculptor, Matt Lund, founder of Metal Matrix.  Matt has worked in the Reno/Lake Tahoe area for over 15 years in metal and fire art, original furniture, and metal creations for commercial and residential installations.
